Crossing the boundaries between technology and art, I am Ji-hyun Kim,
an architectural researcher and media artist designing spatial experiences integrated with light.
I explore the moment when light becomes architecture, and architecture becomes art.
To date, I have received over 30 awards in media art competitions as of 2025, with projects realized across major urban landmarks in South Korea, including Gwanghwamun Square, the National Museum of Korean History, the Suwon Hwaseong Media Art Show, Busan Station, and the GMAF Gwangju Media Art Festival.
In parallel, I am engaged in architectural design and spatial development for science and technology infrastructure projects. I am particularly interested in how light influences architectural space and in the convergence of building facades with media technology.
My work spans both practice and research, including receiving the President’s Award from the Architectural and Urban Research Institute (AURI), publication in the Journal of the Architectural Institute of Korea (November 2025), and the publication of my book Architecture Built with Light, which explores the integration of architecture and media art.
