2025년 기준, 국내 주요 도시 공간을 중심으로 30여 건 이상의 미디어아트 공모 수상하며 전시 경험을 축적해왔습니다. 이를 통해 빛 기반 콘텐츠가 건축 공간과 도시 맥락 안에서 작동하는 방식을 실천적으로 탐구해왔습니다.
As of 2025, I have received awards in more than 30 media art competitions, primarily for works presented in major urban spaces across South Korea. Through these projects, I have developed extensive exhibition experience and investigated, through practice, how light-based content operates within architectural spaces and urban contexts.

2023년 참여한 [수원화성미디어아트쇼]는 약 41만명의 관람객이 방문하였습니다. 이외에도 [대한민국역사박물관], [광화문광장], [부산역] 등 도시 거점 장소에 미디어아트 작업을 진행하였습니다.
The Suwon Hwaseong Media Art Show, in which I participated in 2023, attracted approximately 410,000 visitors. I have also presented media art projects at major urban and cultural landmarks, including the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History, Gwanghwamun Square, and Busan Station.

Beyond the boundary of technology and art, researching architectural experiences fused through light.
Jihyun Kim is an architectural researcher who mediates between the light of science and the light of art within architectural space. The light of science observes and interprets the invisible world, while the light of art breathes sensation and communication into urban space. She explores how these two kinds of light are received and experienced within the envelope, interior space, and urban context of architecture.
Through hands-on work in the spatial design and construction of large-scale light-based scientific research facilities, she investigates the architectural conditions required for precise scientific observation. She has also presented over 30 award-winning and selected media art works across major urban spaces in Korea, including Gwanghwamun Square, the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History, the Suwon Hwaseong Media Art Show, Busan Station, and GMAF Gwangju Media Art Festival.
Building on the AURI President's Award, the Architectural Institute of Korea President's Award, and publications in the Journal of the Architectural Institute of Korea (November 2025 and others), as well as the publication of Architecture Built with Light, selected for the 2026 Sejong Books, a book exploring the convergence of architecture and media art, she moves across practice, research, and artistic creation, exploring the possibilities of light as a connector between scientific infrastructure, artistic experience, and architectural space.

Beyond the boundary of technology and art, researching architectural experiences fused through light.
Jihyun Kim is an architectural researcher who mediates between the light of science and the light of art within architectural space. The light of science observes and interprets the invisible world, while the light of art breathes sensation and communication into urban space. She explores how these two kinds of light are received and experienced within the envelope, interior space, and urban context of architecture.

Beyond the boundary of technology and art, researching architectural experiences fused through light.
Jihyun Kim is an architectural researcher who mediates between the light of science and the light of art within architectural space. The light of science observes and interprets the invisible world, while the light of art breathes sensation and communication into urban space. She explores how these two kinds of light are received and experienced within the envelope, interior space, and urban context of architecture.
Through hands-on work in the spatial design and construction of large-scale light-based scientific research facilities, she investigates the architectural conditions required for precise scientific observation. She has also presented over 30 award-winning and selected media art works across major urban spaces in Korea, including Gwanghwamun Square, the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History, the Suwon Hwaseong Media Art Show, Busan Station, and GMAF Gwangju Media Art Festival.
Building on the AURI President's Award, the Architectural Institute of Korea President's Award, and publications in the Journal of the Architectural Institute of Korea (November 2025 and others), as well as the publication of Architecture Built with Light, selected for the 2026 Sejong Books, a book exploring the convergence of architecture and media art, she moves across practice, research, and artistic creation, exploring the possibilities of light as a connector between scientific infrastructure, artistic experience, and architectural space.

보이지 않는 세계를 관측하는 과학의 빛과, 도시 공간에 감각과 소통을 불어넣는 예술의 빛이
건축의 외피와 공간, 그리고 도시 맥락 안에서 어떻게 수용되고 경험되는지를 탐구합니다.
빛 기반 대형 과학연구시설의 공간 구축 실무를 수행하며 정밀한 관측을 위한 건축적 조건을 연구하고, 광화문광장·대한민국역사박물관·수원화성미디어아트쇼·부산역·GMAF 광주미디어아트페스티벌 등 국내 주요 도시 공간에서 30여 건 이상의 미디어아트 공모 수상 및 전시를 이어왔습니다.
건축공간연구원 기관장상 수상, 대한건축학회장상 수상, 대한건축학회논문집 게재(2025.11 외), 건축과 미디어아트의 융합을 다룬 서적 「빛으로 짓는 건축」 출간 및 2026 세종도서 선정 등, 실무-연구-예술 실천을 넘나들며 빛이 과학기술 인프라와 예술적 경험, 건축 공간을 연결하는 가능성을 탐구합니다.
